I'm not a US citizen but given the odds of McCain not surviving his term I'm not sure I'd want Palin as president of the US - she seems very good at reciting soundbites (and no doubt anything else her handlers tell her to), but I don't think I'd want her as figurehead of the most powerful nation.

to be President to do these things? He's already in Congress, why not
propose the damn legislation he thinks is going to save the US now? Why
wait? Same thing with McCain or Palin or Clinton or the whole lot.

Likely because it's a whole load easier to do as President than a senator. Didn't McCain have his cunning plan to capture Obama, but didn't want to tell us all what it was? Meanwhile, isn't Obama proposing to send troops into Pakistan (with or without permission) to pursue insurgents? Either sounds like a head-desk moment for US foreign relations to me.

Also, the President can veto any legislation, and it's hard to see a President vetoing his/her own legislation...Odds (by gamblers) see McCain tipped to die in office (how morbid, people bet on that), and I agree with Mephit, it would be scary having Palin in charge of the world's most powerful nation...Aussies might know what I mean when I say she always reminds me of Pauline Hansen, not good Evil or Very Mad

Obama gets elected: Gets assassinated, Biden is president. Your stereotypical white politician.

McCain gets elected: Dies, bat-s*** insane fundamentalist gets made president, who's vacuous personality grates anyone who thinks evolution is right.

Some quotes from Pauline (she got elected to Parliament):

1. I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians.
2. “Immigration must be halted in the short-term so that
our dole queues are not added to by, in many cases, unskilled migrants
not fluent in the English language.”
3. We must look after our own before lining the pockets of overseas countries and investors.

I never understood why socialist is such a swear word in the USA. Some say it's bad here but it is accepted as a political ideology for the most part and not the work of the devil.

Anyway on topic. Biden as the thought of Palin being one step away from the Presidents seat scares me.
