the only good thing about WW1 was it taught us not to throw men over a trench into heavy machine gun fire.

The only rivals we had for the sea after Trafalgar were the Americans, we beat them but only in the last battle befoer that they won most of the victorys

And FYI it was you guys who started the War of 1812 (if you dont know what im tlaking about it was a war were BRITAN attacked US merchant ships which really pissed us off. To top it off you burnt the White House down. Shocked

Please study the war for Independence. as an Aussie, I am unbiased, and I can safely say Britain would have ABSOULUTELY WHOOPED the States, if it wasn't for the French, Dutch and others, if just the Dutch had been on Britains side, the White House would never have been built

dutch? where in the world did you learn that. here its US with Frances help (what little they did) versus Britan. thats it. nothing else. No dutch. Nothing. Besides Germans (husseins) fighting with british.

Dutch lent money via they're bankers, but it was supported indirectly by the government through laxes in taxes for the companies involved. The Germans were fighting under some random Duke who was pissed off at Germany Very Happy

. France was responsible from anywhere from 1/20 to 1/5 of the American Force, almost all their gunpowder, and wwere invaluable at Cornwallis' surrender, because without De Grasse's navy, the British supply lines could have broken out of the siege, possible same story with Quebec

France did not (from what i was taught) have 1/20 to 1/5 of there army. No way. France wouldnt have helped us get independence if 2 factors 1) Benjamin Franklin didnt go over and pursuad the french to help. and 2) if the french were not ticked at you guys for fighting in a war against them for so long.

It's true, France was our army, Lafayette (whom we owe all gratitude) was convincing enough in his requests to the French royalty and traders to send units to help the fight. It was only through clever naval action that the British were defeated. This was something of a proxy war for the French, to revenge themselves for the seven years war. Moreover France was completely in love with Franklin for his charisma and kite trick. Many pieces of art displayed thereafter depicted lightning bolts striking important objects to depict a metaphorical strike of equality.
