Re: 360 or PS3
I'd recommend 360. Although, i've only played on a PS3 twice.
Advantages of 360:
You get to play with me.
Graphics are amazing (so are PS3s, but not as much
).
They're cheaper, and you don't need the extra hard drive space, as I doubt you'll use it.
It's damn fast, although they are meant to break easily (mine hasn't yet), so you may want warranty.
Huge range of games exclusively to 360.
Has most of the same features as PS3, internet, watch films, awesome graphics, etc...
No Blu ray slowing the operating system down.
You have to pay for Live, and thats the only bad thing. Finding other players is a lot faster on it than PS3 though.
It's easy to get Demos from the market place, and easily getting instant updates for games.

IF you go for a console dont go for the Xbox. I have friends who have both and i think the PS3 is better, it starts with the controllers. The Xbox ones just feel weird.

Re: 360 or PS3
Well atm im tilting towards a Ps3, mainly because of the free internet and the controllers.
Its more the graphics/ speed etc that im wondering which is better.
I have played on the 360, but tbh fifa and madden dont exactly do graphics of any console justice.
Im thinking ps3 will be quite big this crimbo

Re: 360 or PS3
Graphics and Speed are too similar to call between the two consoles, there's literally NO difference in that dept.
Quality of games and Online experience are the only real difference, I've got a 360 and I find Xbox live to be well worth the £35pa I pay for it which is basically £3 a month I used to spend on mags w/demo discs.
I've not used the PS3 network, but Live is excellent.Gamewise, it's all down to personal preference.

Re: 360 or PS3
None biased towards either, im a PC fag, i take facts as they are
I used to own a ps3 and my brother has a 360
Ps3
Good points:
Nice design
Good controllers
Big harddrive, and you can easily get a bigger one, just need to get a laptop sized one
Very good graphics
Good amount of games (metal gear. Little big planet, Home)
Optical sound
A handly 8 core processor
Free internet
Very quiet
Can be put anywere
Blu ray - for games and films (20GB of space on disks, Bigger games)
Bad points
Expensive
Controllers are expensive (if you need a second/break one/Smash one against wall - Thats why i dont like cod4, it does that to me, and cost a nice £40)
Not that many exclusives, yet, a few on the way tho
Sony are crap at deadlines, you end up waiting for ages for something
No in-game music
Xbox 360
Good Points
cheaper
Lots of exclusives (halo 3 is a god)
Xbox live - Demos/fast connections to server for gameplay
No lag
Good comunity
Easy to use
Hand-fitting controllers (just a bit on the heavy side)
Bad Points
Can overheat/known to overheat and break
Cant put in small covered areas
Looks like a white box, not very attractive
Heavy controllers
Pay for live
No bluray
HD-dvd player, HD-dvds are now dead
Dvd size disks
No room for bigger data sized games (i think gta maxed out the size of the disks)
No full 1080i games
For me there are two options
a console for "now" = the 360 - Its got everything you need set up for you, nice selection of games and a good online community, tho it does come with the "red ring of death" risk. but unfourtunetly the 360 has come to the end of its line, it doesnt really have anywere to go.
A console for the "future" = the ps3 - A good base cosole that give you what you need but it also has a great amount of hope for the future, it has many places it can go, new HD games, better uncompressed sound, better graphics, better ingame XMB, better out of game XMB, basically it will be improving massivly over the next 12+months if you can wait

Re: 360 or PS3
Right thats most point covered, final point is internet connectivity on both im kinda clueless.
Do xbox live and ps3 internet work wirelessly like a laptop, or do you have to have some sort of wireless or wired modem with x feet?

Re: 360 or PS3
internet experience on PS3 is kinda dodgy, blueray takes ages to load so sony resorted to loading some game data onto the PS3 to speed it up
internet on 360 is great well worth the money you gotta pay which is really not that much
it kinda depends what type of gamer you are and what games you like to play
if ur kinda hardcore and like your FPS go for 360, otherwise go for PS3

The PS3 also has free internet connectivity so all you pay for is if you download a game or movie from the store

Re: 360 or PS3
Loads of people have said to me that the PS3 lags online and can be dead slow but I've never had that problem, even when my internet has been going spazzy I've been able to play on COD4 with no problems.
Like Ip said graphics and speed are too close, although I personally prefer the PS3 as a console it's up to you what you buy.

Incorrect, internet is fine on the ps3, i never had lag and my brother was on wow all the time using the same internet connection
And sony upload some of the data to the hdd to speed up loading time yes but this takes about 5-10 minutes to do (15 tops for some of the bigger games) and you have to this once, what you get from bluray in return is superb
